ISO the Queer Love Language of Climate Change

Syr (they/them) is a queer nonbinary Turkish-American writer, immersive experience creator, horror nerd, and art top in search of the queer love language of climate change. Their book, What A Fish Looks Like, is coming out September 4, 2025, from Stelliform Press.

Syr is the co-founder of Queer Cat Productions theater company, a performing arts company for accessible consent-forward experiences that leave audiences more connected. They are the co-founder of The Escapery Pirate Art Collective, which from 2015-2020, held expansive art space for hundreds of artists and writers.

They are a graduate of Clarion West (2018, Go Squids), SFSU’s MFA, Lambda’s Emerging Writers Fellowship, and a Tin House scholarship recipient, as well as residencies from OSU and Writing X Writers. Their work appears in Joyland, Michigan Quarterly Review, Fairy Tale Review, Spunk, Foglifter, Gigantic Sequins, Home is Where you Queer Your Heart (Foglifter Press, 2021) and more.

They are a spirit raiser, witch, tarot reader, and scary storyteller.

They create immersive experiences. Their work has appeared and is forthcoming in theaters and on ships and in cemeteries and on stages.

As an Art Top/ Imaginary Friend, Syr holds writing workshops with a queer and speculative bent, help writers begin or finish their projects, and will gladly help you commit to your art practice by any means necessary. Their workshops incorporate play, ritual and theater.
